A shocking video shows the moment a quick-thinking father jumped into action in order to save his two-year-old daughter who was being dragged away by a coyote outside their Los Angeles home.
The video was captured by cameras that were placed outside the Eliyahuo family residence in Woodland Hills, CA. You can see the toddler being pulled across the family’s front lawn by the animal before it was scared away.
Ariel Eliyahuo, the girl’s father, told reporters that he had just picked his daughter up from her preschool, got her out of the car, and went to retrieve her toys when the wild animal made its move.
The coyote jumped towards the child, knocking her down to the ground before biting the poor little girl on the leg. The animal bites the toddler several times as he drags her across the sidewalk.
At this point, Eliyahou heard his daughter scream out in pain and fear. He runs over to his daughter thinking she fell and that’s when he sees the coyote attacking his daughter.
After freeing his daughter from the animal’s grasp, he hurls a water bottle at it. The coyote seemingly unafraid at first, eventually flees. The mother of the little girl can be heard screaming in the background.
The girl was rushed to the emergency room and suffered injuries to her face and legs including a deep gash to her one leg. She has received a rabies shot.
Shockingly, the coyote seems to be persistently stalking the family as it showed up again that evening in front of the family’s house as news crews were recording.
A search for the coyote is being carried out by the California Wildlife Information Department which hopes to match the animal with DNA left behind with the bite on the toddler said, officials.
The couple’s daughter is currently recovering at home.
