Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry have been together since 2016 and have recently welcomed their daughter Daisy Dove Bloom into the world. In a recent interview, Bloom opened up about the challenges he and Perry have faced in their relationship and how they have worked to overcome them.
Bloom, 46, and Perry, 38, first started dating in January 2016 and announced their engagement in February 2019. However, the couple split in March 2017, reportedly due to Bloom’s long-distance work schedule. The “Pirates of the Caribbean” star and pop star ultimately rekindled their relationship in February 2018 and made their red carpet debut that September.
In an interview with Flaunt magazine published Wednesday, Bloom discussed the challenges of maintaining a successful relationship in the spotlight. He stated that the two of them come from “very different pools” and that they often “battle with [their] emotions and creativity.” He also mentioned that the couple’s long-distance work schedule has been a major challenge.
“Her pool is not a pool that I necessarily understand, and I think my pool is not a pool that she necessarily understands. Sometimes things are really, really, really challenging,” he continued.
He also said, “I won’t lie. We definitely battle with our emotions and creativity, [but] I think we’re both aware of how blessed we are to have uniquely connected in the way that we did at the time that we did, and there’s definitely never a dull moment.”
Perry has previously spoken about the respect she has for Bloom, telling Vogue India in January 2020 that he is “on a spiritual journey of his own” and is “very real.” In August 2020, the couple announced the birth of their daughter Daisy Dove.
Rumors swirled in March 2021 that the couple had gotten married, but Perry shut down the speculation in February 2022, saying that COVID was still getting in the way of their plans. Bloom was previously married to model Miranda Kerr from 2010 to 2013 and they have one son together, Flynn. Perry was previously married to comedian Russell Brand from 2010 to 2012.
The couple is still in the process of planning their wedding, but for now, they are focusing on raising their daughter Daisy Dove and continuing to support each other.
