Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have taken their relationship to the next level. On Tuesday, the couple revealed that they had gotten matching tattoos to mark their first Valentine’s Day as husband and wife.
The ink, which Lopez and Affleck got at a Las Vegas tattoo parlor, is a symbol of their commitment to each other. Lopez’s tattoo is an infinity sign with the names “Jennifer” and “Ben” written in cursive and an arrow going through the middle. Affleck’s tattoo is two arrows crossed with the letter “J” above and the letter “B” below.
The couple, who married in July last year, revealed the news on Instagram, with Lopez captioning the post: “Commitment ♾️ Happy Valentine’s Day my love ????”.
The couple also shared a few fun photos of one another, with one of them showing Lopez and Affleck recreating an iconic scene from her 2002 “Jenny from the Block” music video.
The tattoos come after Lopez confessed that the couple almost had a different wedding plan. In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Lopez said that the pair had been planning to get married in Savannah in August, but that it had become too stressful.
“A month before, and I don’t know if you guys know this, but 20 years ago we were supposed to get married,” she joked of her first engagement to the actor in 2002.
“It kind of all fell apart back then and this time, I absolutely had a little PTSD and so I was like, ‘Is this happening?’ ” said Lopez.
The couple then decided to take the plunge and go to Las Vegas to get married. “We were so happy, and of course it was happening, but I just felt like the wedding was so stressful and one day Ben just says, ‘F— it, let’s just go to Vegas and get married tonight.’ I was just like, ‘This is crazy, what are we doing?’ ” Lopez recalled.
Lopez and Affleck’s tattoos are a reminder of their commitment to each other and their love story. We’ll see if they can make it as permanent as their now-inked skin.
