Children In Hospital Get One Heck Of A Show When The Riddler & Peguin Show Up

On October 13, 2022, children at the Dell Children’s Medical Center got a heck of a surprise when the comic book villains The Riddler and Penguin showed up to steal the hospital’s treasure.

Well…they didn’t really show up but it was part of an event put on by the Austin, Texas police department called ‘Superhero Day.’

After the Riddler and the Penguin showed up, Austin Police Department flew in by chopper Batman, Spiderman, Captain America, and others. Officers posing as the superheroes rappeled down the building to capture the devious duo.

As the characters traversed down the building, they waived to children watching from their hospital rooms.

After the heroes captured the villains, the officers/superhero’s greeted the children and signed autographs.

Police officers in Austin, Texas, marked Superhero Day in a performance that the patients at the Dell Children’s Medical Center are sure to never forget.

In footage of the event released by the Austin Police Department, officers dressed up as villains and superheroes, including Batman, Superman, and Storm from the X-Men franchise, are seen descending down the side of the hospital building before meeting kids inside.

Speaking at the event, one officer told Storyful, “the character of people that we have at the police department that truly want to make the world better.”

These real-life superheroes certainly brought a smile to these children’s faces that day.

Another officer said, “APC Superhero started in 2015. It was just kind of like, a few people had an idea. Could we do this thing? And boy, did it blow up. This just embraces the character of people that we have at the police department that truly want to make the world better. And so coming here for one day and cheering up these kids is an amazing thing. And it shows to what we want to do with people.”
