In a touching moment, you can see Jorge run into the arms of his mother, Yanet Concepcion, after being escorted home by law enforcement.
“I missed you so much,” Yanet Concepcion told her son as she tearfully held him in her arms.
The boy’s father, 45-year-old Jorge Morales, and paternal grandmother, 68-year-old Lilliam Morales, picked Jorge up from Concepcion’s home in Miami on Aug. 27 as part of a custody agreement, but they never brought him home.
When the boy’s father did not return Jojo, an Amber Alert was issued, and investigators discovered that Morales had been planning the abduction for a year, according to CBS Miami.
Border Patrol discovered Morales’ abandoned vehicle with items belonging to the boy in northern Maine. This led investigators to believe that the trio could be in Canada.
Private investigator Joe Carrillo found that Morales had secured a cabin in Canada and that Morales had planned to live “off the grid.”
On Sunday, a tip came in from a local who thought they saw the boy at a Walmart in Moncton, Canada, about 175 miles east of where their abandoned car was found.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police responded and recovered the boy. They were able to apprehend the boy’s father and grandmother without incident.
Concepcion thanked the person who called in the tip about her son.
“I owe this person my son’s life and I can’t say thank you enough to this person,” she said. “It took courage for that person to do this and thoughtfulness. That person thought about making the right decision for my family.”
