Dwayne Johnson Shares Update on Devastating News

Dwayne Johnson has provided an update on his mother’s health following a car crash that occurred late last week.

The actor, who shared details of the accident in an Instagram post last Thursday, told Entertainment Tonight during the 2023 Grammy Awards red carpet that his mother, Ata Johnson, is “doing good”.

According to Johnson, he learned of the accident via a late-night phone call from a family member. “It was 3 a.m. when I got that phone call,” he said. “You know when my phone rings at 3 a.m. and it’s a family member, it’s not good.”

The 50-year-old actor shared a photo of a significantly damaged red car in his Instagram post, writing that his mother had been in the vehicle.

“Angels of mercy watched over my mom as she was in a car crash late last night,” he wrote. “She’ll survive and continue to get evaluated.”

Johnson, who has spoken before of his mother’s strength, also praised her resilience in the post. “This woman has survived lung cancer, tough marriage, head-on collision with a drunk driver, and attempted suicide,” he wrote. “She’s a survivor, in ways that make angels and miracles real.”

The Black Adam star also thanked first responders in the post, writing: “Thank you LAPD & LAFD for being so caring & focused. Thanks for staying on phone and talking me thru it all.”

Johnson’s father, professional wrestler Rocky Johnson, passed away in 2020 at the age of 75 due to a pulmonary embolism. In honor of his mother’s 72nd birthday in October 2020, Johnson celebrated her on Instagram, writing: “We go down this unpredictable road of life and we never know what’s around the corner – so we do our best to treat every day for what it is – a true blessing. And no one epitomizes that philosophy more than my mom. She’s a survivor so every single day, she lives life to the fullest and is a shining beacon of love, joy, and kindness.”
