Jennifer Lopez opens up about the “emotional process” she and Ben Affleck have been through and the blending of their families as their children all move in with them.
After two breakups, two marriages, and four children, the couple finally tied the knot in an elegant ceremony in July 2022. This union has been an emotional process for all involved, as Lopez and Affleck have blended their entire families together.
Lopez and Affleck, who are both 50 years old, met back in 2002 and were engaged for two years before splitting up. After their breakup, Lopez married Marc Anthony in 2004 and had twins, Max and Emme. Affleck later married Jennifer Garner and had three children, Violet, Seraphina and Samuel.
Lopez and Affleck reconnected in 2021 after Affleck’s split from Ana De Armas, and Lopez and Rodriguez’s split. After spending time together, Lopez and Affleck got engaged in April 2021 and finally tied the knot.
In a recent interview on the TODAY show to promote her new film “Shotgun Wedding” with co-star Josh Duhamel, 50, Lopez talked about what it was like to have her and Affleck’s four children move in together.
Lopez said that it was an “emotional transition” but also her “dreams coming true.” Lopez and Affleck held their lavish three-day wedding celebration at Affleck’s Georgia estate in front of friends and family.
“We moved in together. The kids moved in together,” she said. “It’s been, like, a really kind of emotional transition, but at the same time all your dreams coming true.”
“I love Ben too though,” Duhamel joked, “I’ve probably loved him longer than you have.”
“I bet you have,” she replied. “He’s dreamy, I get it.”
Lopez talked about how she and Affleck reconnected in 2021, saying that he emailed her after his split from De Armas raving about her. Although they weren’t trying to go public with their relationship, Lopez said that there was “real love” between them.
“And it’s just been a phenomenal year,” Lopez said. “Like, my best year I think since my kids were born.”
